have a particularly warm attitude towards the game Tomb Raider . It was the first "real 3D" game I was lucky enough to play. I still remember that gloomy day when, escaping from another bout of rain, I entered one of the gaming "salons" that were present at that time on almost every corner of my town.
In the semi-basement, where the children's room of the police shopify website design used to be "before perestroika", there were several tables with square coffins of TVs (for some reason it seems to me now that these were our old "Electrons") and next to them were the first gray PlayStations. Now we condescendingly chuckle - and what is " PlayStation I ". But back then, the number of these PlayStations in the city was measured in literally several dozen, and most of them were in such game rooms.
After walking between the tables and looking at the “almost movie-like” graphics of the games, I was about to leave, but to my delight the rain outside did not stop, but on the contrary, it got worse.
There was nothing left to do but go up to the shelf with disks and start twirling the boxes with colorful covers in my hands with a smart look. "Who gave you permission to take the disks?" - a boy of about 16 immediately appeared next to me, showing with his whole appearance who was the boss here. "I want to play!" - I thrust the first box I came across into his hand.
Having paid what was required, I don’t remember how much now, I received one of the tables with “equipment”, a chair and a joystick. And then the torment began. Before that, I had only played on the “Subor” console (maybe someone remembers) and mainly “Super Mario” . The PlayStation joystick somehow lay incorrectly in my hands, the 3D graphics gave too much freedom, Lara Croft (yes, it was Tomb Raider!) ran into walls like a drunk, for some reason jumped backwards in a stupid way, for no reason at all became, excuse me, on all fours. And the guy in the hat was telling me something for a long time and in English. Pride did not allow me to ask someone for help or advice. And there was someone to ask. Several nasty “kids” gathered behind me, discussing my “game” at the top of their voices. Red with shame and intense attempts to set Larka on the right path, I overheard loud statements like “what’s the point of this game”, “can’t you see – the dude doesn’t get it” and the always very irritating “give it to me – I’ll show you now”.
In a word, only towards the end of the time allotted to me, I learned to more or less evenly guide the girl’s figure, turn where necessary, and even climb the walls (although I didn’t understand where to climb).
I left the "salon" in a fog. Only a few years later I encountered this game again - this time on the " Sega Dreamcast " that I got for my birthday. As it turned out, that game was called "Tomb Raider 4" or " The Last Revelation ". Over time, I got other games in the series, then there was "PlayStation 2" and the first two games. Everything was going great! Having completed almost everything, I calmed down for a while.
